Coffee with a Beekeeper.

Coffee with a Beekeeper is a bi-weekly ZOOM meeting place where you, the beekeeper, can ask questions and talk about what’s happening in your bee world. This is the place where you can become a part of our bee community and have your bee questions answered.  We will address all things bees so bring your questions. While this forum is for beekeepers of all levels, I would ask that we be respectful of one another’s questions, as we all once asked the same questions. If this is something that you think you can benefit from, bring that hot cup of coffee and join us. Those of you who don’t drink coffee are welcome as well. Coffee with a Beekeeper is on the 1st and 3rd of each month from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on ZOOM.

Honeybee Health Workshop – 27 July 2024/ 10:00-12:00PM

As we get closer to extracting honey, the health of our bees should be at the forefront of our minds. Now is the time to recheck the mite count and assess the current health of the colony. With this in mind, we will conduct our second workshop on examining the health of the colony. This workshop will teach you how to check and accurately determine the number of mites in a colony, and how to treat and manage mites as well as other treats to the colony. We will also show you how to manage your colonies when natural resources become scarce. And finally, how to determine how much honey is needed to get your colony through winter which will give can be removed from the colony during honey extractions. This is a hands-on workshop that might require you to wear protective clothes and no hive tools will be allowed on site.

29 June 2024/ 11:00 – 1:00PM

One of the most common question beekeeps ask today is “How often should I inspect the colony” and what to look for. In this workshop, we will show you when to inspect and what to look for while you are in the colony. We will also cover a number of other hands on task. In doing so we will address the first reason we lose our colonies in the winter. Not enough bees.
